Pochi giorni prima del lancio ufficiale di Ubuntu 10.10, atteso per domenica prossima, la Canonical di Mark Shuttleworth rende disponibile per il download anche una Release Candidate con caratteristiche da versione finale. Chi aveva già scaricato la beta uscita all'inizio di settembre può passare direttamente a questa installazione, con un semplice aggiornamento.
La nuova release dell'OS libero e gratuito basato su GNU/Linux (nome in codice "Maverick Meerkat") is a mix of fixes, changes and improvements. Applet Sound Indicator incorporates such controls for the music player. Gwibber, the micro-blogging client, now supports the new authentication system used by Twitter. The Evolution mail client goes to version 2.30.2 while performing Shotwell becomes the viewer and the default image editor instead of the historic F-Spot is written in C #. The Release Candidate is then presented with the latest version of the GNOME 2.32.0 desktop with API and gsettings dconf. The kernel packages have been updated to version 2.6.35-22.23 instead.
