Chi di voi utilizza tutti i servizi messi a disposizione da un account msn (hotmail, live space ecc.)?
Chi di voi, invece, ha un account msn semplicemente per scambiarsi messaggi con amici e conoscenti? Credo la maggior parte di noi.
Be', oggi voglio parlarvi di Jabber (o più precisamente della famiglia di protocolli XMPP ).
E' un insieme di protocolli aperti di messaggistica istantanea (seguite il link su wikipedia per info più dettagliate).

Come detto prima, una rete XMPP usa una architettura client-server quindi c'è bisogno di un server a cui registrarsi.

Once you open the site, la creazione di un account jabber è un'operazione molto semplice.
Basta cliccare sulla voce in alto "Create an Account" e, nella pagina che viene aperta, cliccare sul link in rosso "register.jabber.org".

A questo punto basta semplicemente inserire uno username e una password.
Tutto qui, la creazione dell'account è finita :D.
Che bello, vero, non inserire dati personali (anche fasulli) in giro per la rete, non trovate?
A questo punto non ci resta che configurare il nostro client di messaggistica preferito. In questo post vedremo come configurare pidgin.

run it, start them and click on Account Manage Account:

Warning: under User Name you must enter only the first part of your jabber, if your example@jabber.org username in the username field is inserted only as example shown under andra jabber.org domain.
